The periodic table is somewhat an abstraction of science, but this poster, entitled "The Elements" elegantly brings each element down to earth with a small photograph or picture. Each image, personally selected by Popular Science columnist Theodore Grey, looks to bring fresh insight to each element. For example, titanium is
illustrated by a photo of a giant titanium blisk which, as the descriptions on the back of the poster explain, is a crucial part of a jet plane's engine. Neon is appropriately a neon sign, and einsteinium is accompanied by a photo of the man himself. Along with these pictures and brief descriptions , the poster lists each element's atomic number, weight, melting point, boiling point, and density. "The Elements" is a visually stimulating compliment to any scientific mind.
