Controlled experimentation is introduced in this series of exciting rocketry activities whose educational effectiveness has been demonstrated in research studies. Students experiment to see what factors influence how high a model rocket will fly by varying the number and placement of fins or the length of the body tube. Because students use "Height-O-Meters" to measure rocket altitudes, it is necessary to complete that GEMS unit (see page 5) before doing these rocketry activities.
